Coastal Day at the LA Legislature

Bringing Our Coast to the Capitol

Restore or Retreat will join the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and the Coast Builders Coalition to once again gather in Baton Rouge during the regular session of the Louisiana Legislature to celebrate coastal successes and call attention to the needs of Louisiana’s working coast.

On Wednesday, May 19, the day will kick off with the monthly CPRA board meeting. Tours of the LSU Center for River Studies will immediately follow the board meeting. Governor John Bel Edwards will join the group on the steps of the capitol to speak on the importance of restoring and protecting our valuable coast. (Spoiler alert: there might be a few project announcements!) The formal part of the day will conclude with briefings on the sediment diversion program and upcoming bids/contracting opportunities for the coastal workforce in the Lasalle Building. The evening will conclude with a “Boils and Brews” reception presented by the National Wildlife Federation at the Pentagon Barracks.

**Update– Due to potential inclement weather, the 1:00pm Major Project Announcement by Governor John Bel Edwards will be held at the Center for Coastal and Deltaic Solutions, 1110 River Road South. **
